Similar to \u2018grow up,\u2019 \u2018Glow up\u2019<\/em> refers to manifesting a physical and mental change over time.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The word \u2018glow<\/em>\u2019 implies confidence in the individual and describes how they \u2018glow<\/em>\u2019 with pride and confidence in themselves. Origin<\/h2>\n

The expression \u2018glow up\u2019 originates from hip-hop music. The rapper \u2018Chief Keef\u2019 coined the term in his track, \u2018Gotta Glo Up One Day,\u2019 released in August 2013. The track features Keef rapping about an immature woman that needs to grow up and his rise to fame and wealth.<\/p>\n

The YouTuber \u2018Body\u2019 uploaded the track the following day, where it received 160,000 views until 2017. In the same year, rapper Meek Mill would continue the trend, releasing a song titled \u2018Glow Up.\u2019 The music video garnered more than 7 million views during its first year of release.<\/p>\n

The earliest use of \u2018Glo Up\u2019 on social media comes from the Twitter user @caitlincrowley_ in October 2017, where she posted the following tweet.<\/p>\n
